How do I close the screen where I am viewing an album?

Raghu Hegde 12 years ago updated by Cheehan Tee 12 years ago 1
I clicked on a photo from an album, I viewed a few photos, now I want to close the section and go back to the map. here I did find it a bit difficult to figure out what closes this screen. I was expecting to see a X mark somewhere on the top right or top left cornor and I couldnt find it. I was about to reload the page in the browser, when I saw [back to story] link. Since I am a new user and not very frequent to visit the website,I didnt know whether clicking this link would achieve my purpose. I am more inclined to look for X mark at the top of the story display because I can see the map behind it and the story looks to me like a thing overlapping the map. May be a X mark would be a more intutive option than [back to story] link. I havent had much time to do stuff on roam7, sorry about that. Will try and give in my comments as I can.

We hear you, Raghu. The issue is that the photo looks like it's a modal (aka lightbox) over the map when in reality it's actually a page by itself. So that's why there isn't a "close" button. We will redesign the page to remove this confusion.

*Update*
We have completed the page redesign. This confusion has been eliminated. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Filtered searches

Any plans for filtered searches? Say if there are a 1,000 stories under Japan and i'm only interested in bike stories. Maybe allowing users to tag categories to their stories?

Oh yes, tagging is a big part of Roam7. Even better than that, we intend to do automatic tagging.

Currently, photos added to a Facebook album after you've uploaded it to Roam7 will not be automatically uploaded to Roam7. However, the opposite works - i.e. photos you add to your Roam7 story will be pushed to the Facebook album it is linked with.

Yes, this is definitely in the works! Each location will have its own page where you can easily see all the stories for that location.

Photo upload indicator

Anonymous 12 years ago updated by Cheehan Tee 12 years ago 0
Suggestion: a photo upload progress indicator so that user knows
estimated time taken to complete upload. Was uploading a bunch of
photos and was trying to navigate away to report something about
setting location of multiple photos not working when I got the warning
on the uploading in progress.

If the photo's location has been set, there will be a marker on the map to mark its location. You must have been looking at the map for a photo whose location is not set.

Photo upload?

Anonymous 12 years ago updated by Cheehan Tee 12 years ago 0
hey, just wondering if photo uploads can be a click and drag from computer to a Roam7 window? cos selecting shots from a file is tedious. you gotta look, click, and upload. maybe if there is a way to quickly click and drag the photos you want over to the website... i will upload more!!! hahahahahaha....

Hi Diana,

We're sorry to hear that you're thinking of deleting your account. We do not have the delete feature yet but if you confirm that you want your account deleted we'll manually do it for you. We'd greatly appreciate it if you could give us your feedback on Roam7 and let us know if there's anything we can do to keep you as a user.

some suggestions on the home screen/landing page and others

Raghu Hegde 12 years ago updated by Cheehan Tee 12 years ago 1
1. Can I post a story but not make it visible to the everyone, but only to my FB friends? I want to do this because I am logged in with my FB account and I do not want just anyone to find me, especially if i am a FB user who has chosen to opt out from by profile being visible to everyone in the internet.(or can you read this setting in FB and make the post appear accordingly?)
2. I can see that as more posts start coming in, the home screen map will starts becoming crowded. I feel that this might not give the user a good experience. you might want to think how you want to display the posts on the home screen. May be choose from newer stories?
3. I was looking at the map and I saw that there are orange pins on the map and the photo collage beside it. But for some stories (mine included) I couldnt find the orange pin. May be the photos were overlapping the pin? I like the orange pin, and I wanted it to be visible on my story too :P May be zooming in/out of the map would make it visible, haven't tried that.

1. Privacy setting is already a requested feature: http://support.roam7.com/topic/116507-privacy-setting-for-stories/
Please vote for it and let us know of specific requirements if any.
2. Yes, we do have a way of selecting and prioritizing stories based on your relationship with the story owner and the stories' popularity so that the map doesn't become too cluttered. In effect, everyone will see a personalized selection.
3. Yes, being overlapped could be a reason. If you zoom in enough and the points separate you should be able to see your stories. At a higher level, they  may be hidden due to #2 above.

Thanks, Vedha! The more friends you have on Roam7, the more you get out of it. You can forward the Beta Invite email to your friends and invite them to join or search for their names in the search bar on Roam7.
